Alibi Cucumber

I was hoping to have a photo of this variety this year, but the slugs ate every plant. This is a "pickling" cucumber. Last year I had two plants and they were not grown in the most optimal sun exposure. But I probably had upwards of 50 quarts of pickles! I bought them from Territorial.

Marketmore cucumbers

This is the 2nd year in a row that I have grown this variety of cucumbers and I believe it is going to be a favorite every year. They have excellent flavor--such a classic cucumber aroma and relatively thin skin.

I like to eat the cucumbers quartered in spears and sprinkled with a touch of kosher salt.

Pearl hybrid cucumbers

I wasn't crazy about this variety. The yield was high but the flavor was lacking. Tasted more like a raw summer squash than a cucumber. Hmmm... maybe I will try cooking them that way.

Mexican sour gherkin

I was pretty dissapointed in this cucumber variety. Very low yield... I only had three of these tiny fruits so far despite blooms and bees everywhere. The flavor is very boring and there are tiny little spines that need to be cleaned off thoroughly.

Teeny fruits with bland flavor.

Copious blooms, not much mature fruit.
